Join DAA for the second-annual Delaware Arts Advocacy Day!  This is a great opportunity to advocate for the arts to your elected state officials.

Debra Heffernan, State Representative for the 6th District is sponsoring Delaware Arts Advocacy Day. The 2017 program will consider the connection between arts and education and will inform legislators how the arts play a vital role in shaping Delaware’s future workforce.

Delaware Arts Advocacy Day’s program agenda is:

  • 11 am to 12 pm: Introductions by Representative Heffernan and Senator Brian Bushweller, followed by performances and artwork from Delaware elementary school students.
  • 12 pm to 1 pm:Art-Education: The Key to Delaware’s Workforce of the Future” panel moderated by Jeff M. Poulin, arts education program manager at Americans for the Arts, with Delaware Secretary of Education Dr. Susan Bunting participating. The panel will include six speakers encompassing the arts and business sectors, two from each sector and county in Delaware.
  • 1 pm to 2 pm: DAA’s Institutional Supporters will share videos on arts education. Delaware Arts Advocacy Day will conclude with readings from Poetry Out Loud state champion Cecilia Ergueta of Wilmington Friends School and first runner up Shalyn Littlejohn of Hodgson Vo-Tech.
