Wilmington
General Operating Support
The Delaware Children’s Theatre has been entertaining audiences of all ages for fifty seasons. In that time, it has grown to meet the needs of the community it serves. The DCT mission and goals have remained constant: to enrich our Children’s cultural life, to help young talent find its way to the stage, to continue a tradition of affordable quality theatre, to entertain families with exceptional theatrical experiences, and to preserve our Historic Theatre House for generations to come.
DCT has been serving the tri-state area for 52 years, providing the best in family entertainment classics. Performed by both adults and children, our shows feature some of the best singers in the area. And encourage generations of families to work together as volunteers. We also keep involved in the community by bringing characters to read to children at libraries and appearing at local museums and festivals where we perform for free.
Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, “Disney’s Descendants: The Musical” is jam-packed with comedy, adventure, Disney characters, and hit songs from the films! This production is perfect for families of all ages. We encourage kids to wear their Halloween costumes for an Intermission Costume Parade. And don’t forget to meet the cast after the show for photos and signatures!
Everyone’s favorite ogre is back in “Shrek, The Musical, TYA” opening November 22nd. This hilarious stage spectacle is based on the Oscar-winning, smash-hit film. Shrek has a powerful message for kids that it’s OK to be different. Everyone has their own talents and strengths which should be embraced. Visiting DCT is also a must at holiday time since the 1898 Victorian Theatre House is beautifully decorated for the holidays.
