Step into a world of entertainment at The Everett, where captivating musical performances and films grace the main stage year-round. Just next door, tucked within the visual art center Gilbert W. Perry Jr. Center for the Arts (“The Gibby”), the non-profit organization invites you to experience their intimate theater space. Though cozier in size, this venue transforms for the upcoming production of Almost, Maine—whisking you away to a winter wonderland complete with two rustic cabins, an inviting nighttime backdrop, and the magic of the great outdoors. Directed by Kim Taylor, Almost, Maine comprises nine short plays that explore love and loss in a remote, mythical almost-town called Almost, Maine and the unexpected magic that can happen on a cold winter’s night beneath the northern lights. The short plays are directed by Ren Cass, Sophia Ogden, and Gail Wagner. Since Almost, Maine’s premiere in 2004, it has captured audiences’ hearts with its blend of humor, romance, and small-town charm. Written by John Cariani, it premiered at the Portland Stage Company in Portland, Maine, in 2004, where it broke box office records and garnered critical acclaim. The play was published by Dramatists Play Service in 2007 and has since become one of the most popular plays in the United States. It has also received over twenty international productions and has been translated into over a dozen languages.

The Everett transforms the community into a destination for artistic expression by offering professional-caliber theatrical experiences directly to the heart of our community at reasonable prices and eliminates barriers that would otherwise require residents to travel. The programming enriches local cultural life by making dramatic arts available to everyone—from students experiencing live theater for the first time to long-time aficionados without leaving their hometown. The mission of The Everett Theatre is to foster and develop visual, cinematic, and performing arts in the geographic area of Middletown, Delaware while preserving the historic nature of the Everett Theatre. .
