Project Support

The Resident Ensemble Players (REP) is the professional theatre company in residence at the University of Delaware, bringing classic, modern, and contemporary plays to life for audiences throughout Delaware and the surrounding region. Now in its 19th season, the REP is committed to producing exceptional live theatre that entertains, challenges, and inspires, creating opportunities for audiences to connect through the shared experience of storytelling.

Looking for a heartwarming night out? The Resident Ensemble Players (REP) presents FIREFLIES, a funny and tender romantic comedy by Matthew Barber, October 29–November 15. Based on Annette Sanford’s novel Eleanor and Abel, the play follows Eleanor Bannister, a retired teacher whose quiet life in a small Texas town takes an unexpected turn when Abel Brown, a mysterious drifter, arrives. As the two form an unlikely connection, they discover the joys of companionship, the courage to open their hearts, and the possibility of a second chance at love. Filled with humor, warmth, and surprising moments of grace, FIREFLIES is a delightful reminder that it’s never too late for a new beginning.

The REP welcomes audiences from across Delaware and the surrounding region to experience this production, with tickets starting at $20 and discounts available for seniors, students, and University of Delaware faculty and staff. Patrons can also deepen their theatre experience through free pre-show prologues, post-performance conversations with the cast, and a special backstage tour with the production team. Whether you’re planning a date night, an outing with friends, or an enjoyable afternoon at the theatre, FIREFLIES offers a warm, funny, and uplifting shared experience. Visit www.rep.udel.edu or call the box office at 302-831-2204 for tickets and performance details.
