Delaware Creative Aging Classes

The Access Creative Aging initiative is designed to provide Delaware’s older population with opportunities for artistic expression, social interaction, and enhanced mental and physical health through meaningful engagement in the arts.
Below you’ll find recently announced classes at locations statewide. Registration information will be found within the details and is handled at the library/senior center level (not with the Division of the Arts). If a class is at capacity, we encourage you to ask about a waiting list.
Explore Watercolors
This eight-week program combines demonstration, discussion, and hands-on learning in the art of watercolor painting. Participants will create their own paintings and they will engage in supportive review and sharing of their work with the instructor and their peers. Students will receive a review sheet with each class summarizing terms and techniques.

Drawing is good for the brain and the body! It reduces stress, strengthens memory, and releases endorphins. Using a variety of mediums and gentle drawing exercises, students will learn to link the hand with the brain and their inner world with the outer world.

Writing Your Life Story: How I Found My Way
Claymore Center will present Writing Your Life Story: How I Found My Way, an eight-week Creative Aging writing program designed to help adults ages 55 and older reflect on their life experiences through storytelling, guided writing, and meaningful conversation.

You Can Sing!
Do you love music? Have you ever wanted to sing? This is a friendly and welcoming group voice class where you can learn and develop your singing voice. The sessions are designed to be fun and educational while learning more about your individual instrument. Join us as we develop our creativity, control, and confidence through 8 weeks of classes, ending with a final showcase in the 9th week to celebrate each participant’s musical journey.

Passport to Creativity: A Global Arts Journey
Passport to Creativity is an eight-week arts enrichment program that invites older adults to explore the world through art. Together, we explore a variety of art forms and creative activities. The program combines hands-on artmaking with cultural discovery, allowing participants to experience different artistic traditions, materials, and techniques. No prior artistic experience is required. The focus is on exploration, personal expression, and the joy of learning something new.

Creative Aging Paint Class Series
The MOT Senior Center proposes an eight-week acrylic painting class designed specifically for adults age 50 and older beginning the week of September 7, 2026 – October 29, 2026. The program will meet once each week for two-hour instructional sessions led by Cynelsa Broderick, a qualified teaching artist and Mimi Berry, the MOT Senior Center’s Programs Manager. Participants will explore painting fundamentals while creating individual works of art in a supportive and encouraging environment. The class will accommodate approximately 15 seniors with varying artistic experience, including beginners.
