Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Who wouldn’t want to join Charlie Bucket in his adventurous tour of Willy Wonka’s world-famous Chocolate Factory? Now is your chance! The audience will see Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregarde, Veruca Salt, Grandpa George, Grandma Georgina, Willy Wonka and Charlie himself come to life. The delicious fun of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory awaits you! This production is a great length for all ages to enjoy, with an anticipated run time of just 90 minutes. The ticket price is $10 each, which makes this an affordable opportunity to experience live theater.
The cast is composed of 41 youth, ages 8-18. Actors come from as far south as Frederica, as far north as Smyrna, and everywhere in between. There are a multitude of schools represented in the cast members. When they combine their talents, the result is truly amazing to watch. The Children’s Theatre, Inc. primarily relies on volunteers to assist with directing, producing, costumes, sets, publicity, etc. The beautiful downtown Schwartz Center for the Arts venue in downtown Dover adds to the community engagement.
The mission of the Children’s Theatre, Inc. is to foster and encourage children in the development of and commitment to the highest standard of theatre through instruction, direction, and production of quality performances, whereby, its audiences may gain an appreciation for the arts.

Hagley Craft Fair

Celebrate 45 years of the Hagley Craft Fair! This two-day, indoor/outdoor marketplace brings together talented artisans from the Mid-Atlantic area to display and sell fine arts, crafts, jewelry, and gourmet items. This premier show features works in wood, leather, pottery, fibers, metal, and other media, and includes a specialty food market. Visit vendors throughout acres of fall foliage and inside the Soda House event venue. This year’s Craft Fair features works by three Emerging Crafters. These talented crafters with four or fewer years of professional crafting experience were selected for Emerging Crafter booths at the juried, annual show. Emerging Crafters receive waived registration for the show along with other support to help display and sell their works to thousands of attendees.
Held on both Saturday, October 21 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and Sunday, October 22 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Tickets (valid for both days) are $8 in advance and $12 at the door. Free for Hagley Members and children 5 and younger. Tickets also include admission to the historic du Pont Family home and garden. A food court with a wide range of food trucks and a local craft brewery will have refreshments available for purchase.
In recent years, the Craft Fair has welcomed hundreds of crafters, specialty food vendors, and other artisans to reach new audiences with their unique creations. Attendance at the event averages nearly 4,000 guests visiting primarily from Delaware and surrounding counties in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland.
