Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware
Art Wowzers!
Statewide
Project Support
Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware inspires and enables all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, caring citizens. Led by passionate professionals, our Club and school site locations encourage the youth in our Delaware communities to grow, learn, and play their way toward a brighter future.
A survey was conducted at our clubs asking teens what they needed more of from Boys & Girls Club of Delaware and their number one answer was field experience and that’s exactly what we brought to the table. Our Wowzers! program was designed for teens to gain job experience in a field they have passion for while still being able to balance school and home life. The Wowzers! have an opportunity to work in many different programs including art. Boys & Girls Club of Delaware partnered with Ellen Priest, an abstract artist of 35 years who created the art program EyeBall It! This program offers real studio art education to children ages 7-12. The projects are hands on and inspire children’s creative thinking, problem-solving and confidence in making art on their own with their own ideas. Our Wowzers! are the people who make that possible by coming into the clubs and walking our members through each project while making it fun and inclusive for everyone!

Art Works for All
Celebration of Creativity Exhibition
Dover
GOS
Art Works for All’s (AWA) annual Celebration of Creativity (COC) visual arts exhibition celebrates the creative work of individuals with disabilities. COC artwork is created during AWA’s visual arts Artist Residency projects in K-12 schools and community settings throughout the state. COC provides an opportunity for participant artwork to be professionally prepared and shared with the community and is the culminating event for AWA’s extensive Artist Residency program.
The annual COC exhibition consists of approximately two hundred works and debuts at the Arts Center/Gallery (ACG) at Delaware State University. The exhibition then tours to additional sites throughout Delaware from September through March. While COC is on exhibition at the ACG, AWA hosts school and community site visits to the exhibition. During these ‘field trip’ events, program participants experience the exhibition and engage in additional collaborative creative work. Program participants are excited to locate their work on the ACG walls. The COC exhibition champions the work of individuals with disabilities while also promoting inclusive arts opportunities. The final exhibition location for Celebration of Creativity 2022 is Legislative Hall (Dover) from March 1-31, 2023.
Art Works for All (AWA), formerly VSA Delaware, is dedicated to providing educational opportunities through the arts for individuals with disabilities. For over thirty-four years, AWA has promoted collaborations between arts, education, and disability communities by providing: an intensive artist residency program to schools and community sites, professional development opportunities for art educators, arts education resources, cultural access advocacy, and statewide art exhibitions and performances.
